The children have left. The house is quiet in a way it never was before. And now, for the first time in a long time, the question is: who are you, without the role? This journal is for the season after — the grief, the relief, the rediscovery. Written to sit with you through all of it.

§ II  ·  About the author

Abigail Alder.

Abigail Alder has been a caregiver for 28 years. A nurse by training. A kind soul by nature. She spent decades sitting with people at the hardest moments of their lives — in cancer wards, in recovery rooms, in grief.

"The best journals aren't diaries. They are maps drawn while you're still lost."

She knows what it actually feels like to sit across from someone who is scared, or in pain, or just trying to hold it together. That knowledge shapes every prompt she writes. Every Abigail Alder journal is built the way good care is given: with structure, with warmth, and without talking down to the person who needs it.

She publishes under the Abigail Alder imprint through Diehl House Books LLC, an independent press on the west coast of Florida.

01
Warmth without fluff.
These journals are warm, never saccharine. Every prompt is there to do a job — to move you, to name something, to clear a little space. Not to make you feel better temporarily. To help you actually get better.
02
Written for the real moment.
Not for the version of you that has it together. For the one sitting in the quiet house, or the full one that's about to become quiet. The language meets you where you are.
03
Structure is a kindness.
A blank journal is an act of abandonment. A well-designed one is a hand extended. Abby builds the architecture — what goes where, in what order — so you don't have to.
§ III  ·  Letters

A letter,
now and again.

When a new journal ships, or there's something worth saying — Abby writes a short note. No algorithm, no noise. Just a letter, from her desk to yours.
